Founded in 1975 after Dr. Johnโs Graduation from Loma Linda University. Mashni is now over 50 years established. We were founded on the base principles of service, excellence, and comprehensive care, and continue those now.
Dr. John Mashni
Dr. John was born in Ramallah, Palestine, in 1950. He was the second of 7 boys born to Anesa and Wadie Mashni. His father and oldest brother immigrated to America in 1965 to provide for a more stable life and better education for the family. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1975 and briefly worked as an associate dentist prior to starting Mashni Dentistry.
Our father and the founder of Mashni Dentistry- Dr. John Mashni- is not only a mentor, but he is the constant voice in our head as we treat our patients and go through our day- โWhatโs best for the patient?โ He is a constant reminder of “if you love your job, youโll never work a day of your life.” Many of you see the compassionate, hard-working dentist that he has become, but you may not know of his humble beginnings, frying donuts at Dunkin’ Donuts or stocking shelves at the grocery store to get through school. Our personal favorite job is after his first year of dental school, Dr. John came back to Michigan and bought a truck and set up an ice cream truck- driving around and selling sugary treats to children.
There is little doubt our father got his work ethic from his father. Our grandfather brought his family to the United States, leaving a great profession behind to come and work two jobs to support his family of seven boys. As we see the sacrifice of those before us, we can only realize the blessings given to us and strive to live up to the standards set.
As a dentist and business owner, Dr. John Mashni instilled in our team and ourselves the importance of trust and a relationship. We always come back to the purpose of our profession and find our own individual motivations, strengths, and weaknesses to work on. He is a constant reminder that we should never stop learning and growing. As a father, he instills his standards of excellence and care through treating each individual as a child of God.
Younger Dr. John Mashni
Not many are fortunate enough to have this type of relationship with a business partner and father. Many would wonder how working so closely with family members ever works out. We valued this arrangement simply because of the value of family instilled in us. We see our patients as family, we see our team members as family, and of course, all the doctors are family.
Dr. John stopped treating patients clinically in 2019. We are grateful for what he has built and the strong foundation that was laid. We are so grateful for the compassionate care he provided for each of his patients – and that we can continue to serve and grow from his work.
Many of you have known Dr. John for many years- some of you longer than us. So we are so grateful for each patient who has come through, whether for an emergency visit or if you are in your 50th year here at Mashni Dentistry. We are so grateful for each team member who has worked with Mashni Dentistry and helped build the reputation and practice we have today. Each individual has created Mashni Dentistry into what we are.
