Discover the Confidence of a Brighter Smile with Teeth Whitening

Discolored teeth can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Think about the many photo sessions and conversations you’ve avoided because of your stained teeth. Yellow, brown, or dark stains in your teeth do more than dull your appearance—they dim your confidence. The good news? Professional teeth whitening in East Lansing, Michigan, can help you rediscover the brilliance of your smile.

Are you unhappy with your stained teeth? Visit Mashni Dentistry today! Drs. James and Jason Mashni can help you get that confident glow back with Zoom teeth whitening.

Why do I have stained teeth?

Understanding the causes of tooth discoloration is the first step towards understanding your smile enhancement options. Stains can be typically categorized into two:

  • Extrinsic stains: These are superficial stains that form on the outer layer of the tooth, known as the enamel. They appear as yellow stains that spread out on the entire smile over time. Common causes of extrinsic stains include smoking, poor oral hygiene, and pigmented foods and beverages (think coffee, red wine, soda, tea, and soy sauce).
  • Intrinsic stains: These stains affect the dentin, the layer beneath the enamel. They appear as dark or gray discoloration and rarely respond to teeth whitening treatments. Common causes include certain medications, fluorosis, trauma, and infections.

Our professional teeth whitening is effective for most stains. However, if your tooth discoloration is resistant to whitening, we will recommend alternatives, such as dental bonding and veneers. Trust us to provide customized solutions that deliver beautiful, long-lasting results.

How do you whiten teeth?

Our office uses Kor ® teeth whitening systems, one of the most trusted whitening systems in the world. This advanced method delivers fast, effective, and safe results for your smile.

Zoom offers two whitening options:

  • In-office teeth whitening: Kor ® in-office teeth whitening is an excellent solution for those who want immediate results. We will combine highly concentrated gels with light technology to deliver noticeable results. In just about an hour, your teeth can become up to eight shades whiter. It’s a perfect option if you have an upcoming special event or just want to refresh your smile quickly.
  • Customized whitening trays: Would you prefer to whiten your teeth at home? Experience the convenience of custom whitening trays. We’ll give you simple instructions for using your kit. Just place a small amount of whitening gel inside the tray and wear it for a few hours, preferably before bedtime. Within about two weeks, you’ll start to see a noticeable improvement in the whiteness and brightness of your teeth.

Both options deliver professional strength results. However, many patients combine in-office and take-home whitening for the best long-term results.

How long do results last?

Your results can last 1-3 years with proper care and maintenance. To maintain your bright smile, practice good oral hygiene and limit your consumption of foods and drinks that cause stains. Regular dental cleanings and occasional touch-ups with your custom take-home kit will help you maintain a bright smile throughout the year. Finally, quit tobacco use of any form. Your smile and even overall health will thank you.
